1962–1966
(also known as the "
Red Album
") is a
compilation album
of hit songs by the English rock band
the Beatles
, spanning the years indicated in the title. Originally r
eleased with its counterpart 1967–1970 (the "Blue Album") in 1973, the double LP peaked at number 3 in the United Kingdom. In the United States, it topped the Cash Box albums chart and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart while 1967–1970 reached the top spot. As with 1967–1970, this compilation was created by Apple and EMI/Capitol Records in response to a bootleg collection titled Alpha Omega, which had been sold on television the previous year. Print advertising for the two records made a point of declaring them as "the only authorized collection of the Beatles".

The Album Cover/Jacket itself, the original full "gatefold" cover, has had the protective shrink wrap removed. Each of the corners are relatively square, each having minor fuzzing or flaking, and each having a minor bump/bend from improper handling. The front and rear covers, as well as the inside panels of the gatefold, show minor signs of wear including a couple small creases, ring wear on front and rear panels, and the outer edges all around have spots where the red color appears to be slightly faded and/or rubbed away. The spine does have one circular dark spot of unknown origin. However, no tears in the spine, gatefold crease and no seam splits...please see photos.
